What is it?
CAUGHT IN THE WEB is the personal blog of Sam Han. It features mostly technology- and media-related posts with a focus on social theory. However, sometimes, I veer off and post other random things.
Who?
Sam is Instructional Technology Fellow of the Macaulay Honors College at Lehman College and a PhD candidate in Sociology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York(CUNY). Previously, he was Visiting Instructor of Sociology at the College of Staten Island. He is author of Navigating Technomedia: Caught in the Web (Rowman & Littlefield, 2007) [Amazon] and co-editor (with Daniel Chaffee) of The Race of Time: The Charles Lemert Reader (Paradigm Publishers, 2009) [Amazon]. He has written for Theory, Culture and Society, Review: A Journal of the Fernand Braudel Center and The International Journal of Baudrillard Studies.
He produces and engineers a podcast on hip hop music and culture with Danyel Smith(Executive Editor of TheRoot.com) and Elliott Wilson(Editor-in-Chief and Owner of RapRadar.com) called “Take It Personal.“
With Chip Beck, he is part of production duo Hans Beck.
He also dabbles in his own electronic music production.

He didn’t want to wade into campaign hoopla but couldn’t help himself last week when people started saying, during Obama’s trip abroad, that Barack “‘needs to be careful’ about not appearing like he’s already won the office of the President.” To Sam, this smacked of racism (thanks, Misa Dayson): Now, this would be a fair warning to Obama if it weren’t for one thing that nags me. Would they be saying this if it were McCain who were over there? […] [...]
